The nine-partner SAGE Collaborative (OC) project has been funded to implement an Entrepreneurship Development System (EDS) designed to enhance the growth of private business on three Indian reservations. Based on the Lakota value of Wawokiye, generosity without expectation of return, the OC EDS is a systematic approach to business development centered on the specific needs of Native entrepreneurs. It incorporates a network of volunteer and paid professional service providers, coaches and mentors to answer questions and provide one-on-one business help to start or grow their businesses. The premise of the demonstration project is that by systematically growing the private sector on Native Communities conditions of long-term poverty can be reduced.
